Photos of the Murray Iron Works, Burlington, Iowa, which was incorporated, February 1, 1870. Dresser-Rand Company has moved operations to Flint Ridge Business Park in order to consolidate their two plant operation into one site. Dresser-Rand (formerly Murray Iron Works) is the oldest continuous manufacturing company in the state of Iowa. The company produces multi-stage steam turbines which are shipped all over the world.
My grandfather began work at the Murray Iron Works in 1902, and later owned and operated Hawkeye Boiler Company in Burlington. My great grandfather worked at the Murray as well. Demolition of the old Murray Iron Works buildings located in downtown Burlington is under way, May-September 2012.

Thanks Ed for these wonderful pictures...my grandfather, John A. Brust worked here during the depression. Almost all the men in my family worked here. I recently moved to Illinois & I'm working on my family tree through ancestry.com. I've been trying to add as many photos of the area & places as I can. I remember summers visiting my grandmother & driving down snake alley....so much fun. How about Van's Tenderloins?? Do you have any pictures of that little place??
Thanks again!
